Liverpool – Sports City 2011!

We all know about the football in Liverpool, for some its like a religion and for those of us not so inclined its can be a disruption to our weekends! (Sorry Football Fans but it is!)
What many do not realise is that Liverpool is host to a myriad of other sporting events throughout the year.
After the success of last years event we see the return of The World Netball Series on the 25th – 27th November at The Liverpool Echo Arena. This year sees New Zealand, Australia, England, Jamaica, South Africa, Fiji competing to be the best of the best.
Liverpool’s Cricket Club in Aigburth is also home to Lancashire Cricket Club for several fixtures this season, on the 18th May they take on Yorkshire, 27th June Durham and 1st August Warwickshire.
We also have The ICAP Liverpool International Tennis Tournament from the 17th June at Calderstones Park. Latest news on this event is that none other than Ms Virginia Wade herself will ber making an appearance! Well worth a Pimms!
And last but cartainly not least on the list is the GB leg of The Judo World Cup on the 1st & 2nd October seeing some of the UK’s best battling as the run up to the 2012 Olympics continues.
So for all of you mourning the loss of the football for this season – there is plenty to get excited about in Liverpool – our Sports City!

There’s also the return of the Liverpool Marathon in October and plenty of boxing!
